Church and politics, where is the heresy?
June 4, 2014
Our nations have become deeply secular. Through the European free market, Mammon is being glorified, and through laws for issues such as abortion, euthanasia or same sex marriage, life and family values are being rocked. In this very sad picture, I find it even sadder to see that so many Christians choose to be inactive. The famous quote from Edmund Burke: “all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing” is unfortunately still very accurate...
Little things
June 2, 2014
My daily life at the moment is full of small things, often taken care of within our house.
Sometimes I struggle to value what I do, as women are taught to be ambitious and to measure their success in life mainly through achievement outside of the home. For the moment, as I take care of our children and our home, I definitely disqualify for success in society’s eyes.
From Noah to Robert Schuman
April 1, 2014
I’m currently working on the translation of Jeff Fountain’s book “Deeply Rooted” relating Robert Schuman’s life and especially all the process that brought him to be one of the architects of what is known today as the European Union.
Also, a few days ago, as I was drinking my usual coffee after lunch, I was watching a cartoon with my daughter telling the story of Noah’s ark. The similarities between both stories came quite clearly into my mind...
The opportunities of the new spiritualities

Islam, often seen as a big threat in Europe by Christian, was only at 6% and most of them are immigrants from Islamic countries. But if we take a look on the 25% involved in new spiritualities...
Science and sherperding
December 12, 2013
As our oldest daughter is discovering the Christmas story for the first time, I find myself re-discovering it at the same time. And this year what strikes me is how God revealed Himself in different ways to different people.
To the legendary three wise men, He revealed Himself through a star. Stars were their domain – their special area of expertise. Through excelling in their profession, they were led to something divine...
Church and state: Marriage, divorce or…
December 12, 2013
Last week I attended the Transatlantic Christian Council in Brussels, where many prominent Christian thinkers and politicians from both Europe and the United States were gathered for a conference. One of the speakers was Mr. Frits Bolkestein, former Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade and Defense as well as former member of the European Commission.
During his speech, he stated: “Church should stay out of politics and should have no claims on political ideologies”...
Salt in the pot
November 5, 2013
I spend quite a bit of my time in the kitchen. Just a few days ago, I noticed that the salt in my blue pot was rapidly disappearing.
I had several items already on my shopping list but I quickly realized that though the other items could wait a day or two, I could not do without salt!
